The board bid farewell to Joseph Olila, who resigned his position as Executive Director for TNRF to pursue further studies in environmental leadership in Cambridge in the UK. Joseph served TNRF for 4.5 years following his appointment in 2012. He took over as an Executive Director at a time when TNRF lost one of its major funder AcT Tanzania. For many, the board’s decision to appoint Joseph Ollila as an Executive Director was an unbelievable joke. His lack of experience in leadership was a major concern. Joseph proved wrong all his critics; he has grown TNRF and brought it back to its leadership position in the natural resources governance landscape in Tanzania. Joseph leaves TNRF with a number of funders and expanded programs in Community Based Natural Resource Management, Land Based Investments and Climate Change. Today TNRF has a staff complement of 18 from a scaled down 7 in 2013. Thank you Joseph for making us Proud. Thank you TNRF for growing young leaders.
