On 15th July 2017, the Board of Tanzania Natural Resource Forum (TNRF) appointed Zakaria Faustin as the new interim Executive Director for the organization. This change came after resignation of current Executive Director Mr. Joseph Olila moving on to pursue further studies in environmental leadership at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom(UK).

Mr. Zakaria has 11 years’ experience in leadership gained through engagement with local and international NGOs, public and private sector institutions. Since he joined TNRF in 2012 to date, he has managed and led various multi-stakeholder programs including the Pastoralist and Land Based Investment (LBI) programs. His experience on leadership in international NGOs was gained through working as team lead for capacity building programs of FARM Africa. This is in addition to consultancy services he offered to various international NGOs including Netherland Development Organization (SNV) Tanzania Biogas Development Programme (TBDP), Care International - Tanzania Sustainable Range Land Management Project (SRMP) on Participatory Land use Planning for Sustainable Natural Resources Management; and FARM Africa land use and joint forestry management programme
Prior to joining the NGO sector, Zakaria served as a General Manager at KJ Traders and General Supplies Company Ltd (2005). He gained familiarity with public sector institutions through his work as a Town planner for “Cities Without Slums Project” a UN-HABITAT funded initiative at Arusha Municipal.
With all this vast experience, Mr. Zakaria is looking forward to work with TNRF’s partners and members to team up with all diverse working groups workingin natural resources governance in addressing policies and practice for improved governance in natural resources sector.
